The dismissal of Dr. Michele Basso last month from the Washington National Primate Research Center — one of seven federally-funded primate labs nationwide — comes after a routine inspection report faulted the UW for the death of a rhesus macaque monkey last year, and amid an ongoing review by the state veterinary board.
